Abstract

Hypertension is one of the major public health problem and an important modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Because of weak health systems in low and middle income countries, the number of people with hypertension who are undiagnosed, untreated and uncontrolled are very high. Iran has become increasingly modernized.

Introduction

Globally cardiovascular disease accounts for approximately 17 million deaths a year, nearly one third of the total. One of the key risk factors for cardiovascular disease is hypertension, complications of it account for 9.4 million deaths worldwide every year.
