Abstract

The pathological TNM staging system has been revised in 2009 but the modifications made concerned only the Tumour and the Metastasis components. This fact made many authors wonder about the necessity of improving the lymph node component in order to reach a better reliability. One of the interrogations made in the literature was the possible necessity of dividing the pN2 group into multiple-station one and singlestation one because of the better prognosis of the latter.
